Enjoy family fun across Test Valley this August: Part 2

Andover

If you've been enjoying the first few weeks of Four Fun Fridays, there's more to look forward in the second half of the month.

On Friday 16 August head to Andover High Street to take part in some Bollywood themed workshops with Art Asia, followed by special performances. These will take place at 11:45am and 1:15pm on the day.

Amanda from Merry Go Round Storytelling will be telling the classic tale of the Hare and the Tortoise; come along to watch her interactive sessions at 11:10am, 12:30pm and 2:15pm.

There will be face painting, Lego dot-printing with Chapel Arts Studio and some bronze-age inspired workshops for children to take part in.

The Test Valley Borough Council countryside team will be on site to talk about the importance of water safety, which will involve having a go at throwing a throwline and making mini boats out of natural materials. Representatives from Southampton Children's Hospital will also be coming along to talk about their important work and run activities such as giant Jenga ad bracelet making.

On Friday 23 August you can join in the Junk Orchestra, and groove on a funky selection of upcycled instruments.

Urban Canvas will be coming along to run creative activities, and you can have a go at making mosaics with Hampshire Community Heritage.

There will be free face painting, craft activities with Andover Trees United and medal making with Chapel Arts Studios.

Amanda will be telling the story of the Enormous Turnip, watch her show at 11:15, 12:30pm or 2pm.

Four Fun Fridays runs between 11am to 3pm on Andover High Street and everything is free.

Andover's Wold Street Party is a brand new event, taking place on the bank holiday Monday 26 August. Head to Andover High Street between 12pm to 5pm to celebrate a fusion of culture, with live music, delicious street food, performances, workshops and more.

Head to Sir Harold Hillier Gardens to take part in some summer activities during August. On Tuesdays and Saturdays there will be a chance to have a go at pond dipping; using nets to try and find diving beetles, nimble pond skaters and slimy snails.

There is also an interactive trail to follow, where you can hunt for dragons and damsels throughout the gardens.

On 15 and 22 August at 10.30am, 11.30am, 1pm and 2pm, you can hike out with the educational team to search for minibeasts. Each week will have a different theme as you explore the natural grounds for wildlife.

A special picnic concert ‘Family Music in the Gardens’ will take place on Saturday 24 August at 6pm, featuring a talented 75-piece orchestra and singers. Taking inspiration from the movies with a good helping of well-known contemporary music for all to dance and sing along. This will be a brilliant family evening out with FREE children’s entertainment all set in the beautiful Gardens.
