Half term activities in Test Valley

Enjoy May Half Term with the family this year in the idyllic Test Valley.  Choose from adventures in the outdoors to arts and crafts in some unusual surroundings.



The world-renowned Sir Harold Hillier Gardens is a wonderful place to take the kids.  Half term events include Pond Dipping (28 – 30 May).  Look for diving beetles, pond skaters and slimy snails! And an Outdoor Adventure Holiday Club (28 May 2024 to 30 May) 2024) with den building, bug hunting, scavenger hunts, tool work and more! 



National Trust property Mottisfont offers 3 half term themed activity packs for families. Discover artworks in the house and gallery and explore nature in the gardens. Each activity booklet includes puzzles and challenges to complete while you explore, as well as a themed scene to cut out, decorate and keep. (25 May - 2 June).


Visit Cholderton Rare Breeds Farm where there’s lots for families to do during the day. It’s packed full of your favourite animals, including pigs, goats, sheep, ponies, rabbits, peacocks, chickens, ducks and more.  There are also some fabulous play areas and daily activities.  These include Alpaca Trekking, Pig Racing, Lamb racing, animal feeding, guinea pig fishing, and more.


Take the kids to The Lights in Andover for Mark Thompson's Spectacular Science Show (29 May, 2pm), You think science is boring, think again; this is science like you have never seen it before. Designed for children and adults alike, Mark’s Spectacular Science Show explores the strange and magical properties of matter with exploding elephant’s toothpaste, vortex-generating dustbins and even howling jelly babies! This interactive show promises to entertain and educate in the most spectacular way! 


Pop into Whitchurch Silk Mill, a 19th century water mill that weaves English silk fabrics using 19th century machinery, where children can make a mini version of the tall wooden May pole which was traditionally put up during May Day festivities. (29 May)


Help The Army Flying Museum commemorate this year's 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings, by joining in some Second World War themed activities during May Half Term. There will be a special trail throughout the week, as well as craft activities which are available every weekday between 10am and 12. 30pm. Enjoy model making sessions with Models for Heroes (26 May and 28 May). Take a virtual walk around an Apache helicopter with a VR headset (30th May). All holiday activities are included with a general admission ticket - save money by booking online!
